Choosing Oils

learnbeginner

Around the Campfire

One small squeeze bottle of cooking oil often becomes the most-used item
in your camp kitchen.

Best Oils

  • Avocado: Excellent for high heat.
  • Canola: Affordable and versatile.
  • Grapeseed: Great for seasoning.
  • Vegetable: Readily available.

Avoid

Butter by itself for high-heat cooking. Add it near the end for flavor
instead.

Storage

Keep oil bottles sealed and upright inside a plastic bag while
traveling.

Dragonfly Tip

Use less oil than you think. Thin coats work best.
