The Countdown
45 Minutes Before Dinner
Remove meat from the cooler. Lay out ingredients.
20 Minutes Before
Preheat the Blackstone.
10 Minutes Before
Prepare vegetables and toppings.
The Cooking Rhythm
Every smooth camp meal follows the same pattern:
- Prep ingredients.
- Preheat the griddle.
- Cook proteins first --- the items that can rest, like burgers and chicken.
- Toast buns or tortillas while the meat rests.
- Finish quick items last --- eggs and delicate vegetables.
- Serve together, then clean while the griddle is still warm.
Cook Backwards
Instead of asking "What cooks first?", ask "What needs to be hottest when
served?" Cook the things that hold heat first and the quick, delicate
items last.
Dragonfly Tip
Consistency makes every trip easier --- and the last item cooked is often
the first thing people notice, so finish strong.
